Sevier River Basin
(May 2007)
As of May 4, 2007, the Sevier River basin has had 84% of normal overall precipitation. On April 1, 2007, the mountain snowpack for the basin was very poor with only 43% of normal snow water equivalent. This is a significant decrease from last year’s 98% of average (NRCS Snow Survey).
In spite of these poor conditions, reservoir storage in the basin overall is at approx. 72% of capacity with the larger reservoirs like Yuba, Piute, and Otter Creek at above 80%.
All real-time basin stream flows are well below normal. Most locations are within 25 to 75% of normal with a few between 10 and 24% of normal or higher. Also according to the NRCS, soil moisture is currently at 31% of normal volume. |
